A real adventure! It’s long been an ambition to experience Mongolia and its semi wild horses, which this trip facilitated! The scenery and camp spots were unreal and It was fun to meet a group of horsewomen from different countries. Adrienne, from Equescapes, was a great advocate for the group during this trip.

I thoroughly enjoyed this horseback riding adventure in Colorado from Edwards to Aspen. The guides were excellent and the chefs were top notch! The hours in the saddle were tough, but arriving at the hut with food waiting was special. I'm glad I signed up for this trip, and it will always be a fond memory. My only concern was this trip is advertised for all levels of horseback riders, including beginner. I would recommend this be changed to intermediate or advanced riders only. With one of our riders getting thrown from her horse and seriously injured, I hope this can be prevented in the future. If beginners are still allowed to ride this trip, they should always be at the front of the line of horses so the guide can be helping as needed.
Colorado - Vail to Aspen
Hi Kirsten, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip! This one is right in our backyard here in CO, so it's extra special to us and something we love to be able to share with others. Thank you for sharing your concerns about the riding level on this trip. While we try to only send intermediate+ riders on this one, Bearcat does accept riders of all levels, so unfortunately we cannot control who else books onto these trips, and you were the only Equescapes rider on this particular ride. I will pass your feedback on to Bearcat though so that hopefully this can be avoided in the future. Thank you!

Absolutely outstanding and life changing. The guides, the family we stayed with and the amazing horses were just perfect. I met some truly wonderful people.

The iceland horse trip was wonderful once at the farm house. The staff from isHESTA were wonderful. The negative part of the trip was the communication between Equescapes, it seems they did not do their homework on logistics of where to stay pre and post the horse riding. It was definitely not communicated to the guests that only certain hotels in reyjkvik were included in the transfers from reyjkvik and the farmhouse in snaefellnes. We ended up paying over $200 in taxi fares getting to and from the pickup location and our hotels that we had booked. If we knew in advance what hotels would be included in the included transfer we would have booked at one of those. Also in the pretrip info, it listed that we had to provide rain gear and riding helmets. This was not the case, isHestar provided the rain gear, and would also provide a helmet if needed. So in addition to the extra taxi, expense, I also purchased a riding helmet which took up packing space, the rain gear I bought I didn't use since theirs was much warmer. I ended up donating my helmet to isHESTaR since I did not want to pack it again. I enjoyed the horse riding but not sure I would booked again with Esquescapes.

Hi Deborah, I'm glad you enjoyed the trip! If I may, I would like to clarify a few things regarding the trip logistics. Since we were not asked to help plan any of the pre- and post-trip logistics, we were not involved with where everyone decided to stay before and after the riding part of the trip. The group pick-up from the bus station was clearly communicated: it was in the original itinerary, the travel dossier that was sent to everyone, and it was sent by email and included on the WhatsApp group with the location. With this information, everyone could have booked hotels close to the pick-up location. When asked if pickup from hotels would be possible, I did try to set this up for you but with 11 people staying at 6 different hotels, some in parts of the city that are inaccessible with the van, this was not possible. No hotels were included in the included transfer, because the included transfer was always from the bus station. In previous years, sometimes Ishestar has not had enough rain gear to provide it for everyone, or not in the right sizes, so this is why we suggest everyone brings their own. This is also part of the Ishestar packing list even though they do have extra equipment they can provide. The same goes for riding helmets - by bringing your own, you are guaranteed to have something that you know is the right size and fits comfortably. How kind of you to donate the helmet to them, though. In any case, I'm glad you had a good time on the ride, and if you do decide to book another riding holiday I hope you will keep us in mind - I would be happy to work with you directly on pre- and post-trip logistics, and we have a travel agent on staff who can also help book any additional hotels, transfers, activities, etc. for a seamless and comprehensive itinerary.
